How To Automate Your Healing Regimen For Cancer
Cancer patients have a long list of supplements to take, appointments and at-home therapies to keep up with. To make this more streamlined, here are some suggestions:
Listen to meditation CDs
Do this on a daily basis to work though emotions. This automates and guides your mind to positive images and thinking. I highly recommend CDs from Belleruth Naparstek.
Use a programmable coffee machine
You can set it on a delayed timer and have your coffee ready in the morning or whenever for the enema (I no longer do them). I also use it to keep water warm in following the Water Cure. Once the water runs out in the coffee machine reservoir, I don't refill it. After I use up the coffee, I clean and refill the coffee pitcher with salt & water and keep the machine on. It takes maybe half an hour for the water to get warm. If it gets hot, I dilute it with water that is room temperature.
Recurring reminders
Use your iCal or phone to add daily reminders to meditate, weekly or monthly reminders for maintenance like cleaning out a water filter, re-ordering supplements.
Timers
For breaks from work or from the computer. Set an alarm hourly, to prompt you to take a walk, stretch or meditate. This will help avoid eye fatigue and computer back.
To limit activities where you tend to lose track of time: video games, browsing on social media, watching TV
Time the tub. If detox baths are part of your routine, time how long it take for the tub to fill, then setting the timer for that amount the next time you need to draw a bath. In doing this, I don't need to keep checking to see if it is ready and I spend that time on a trampoline/rebounder.
Triggers
Add in good habits by using triggers and pairing. Find something you already do and pair it with a new good habit.
To keep up with your water intake: Upon waking up, drink a glass of water. Thirty minutes before each meal, drink a glass of water. It will help digestion.
To meditate every day: After having your morning water, meditate for 5 minutes. Just 5 minutes, even if you could do more. Stay with this for a week to make it a habit. Next week, increase it by 2 minutes or 5 minutes. Keep it realistic and don't force it. If the added amount seems too long, go back to the previous amount.
To stretch everyday: Find the best time of the day or week such as when you get home from work. Be sure to set up an environment so you can do so without having to gather a mat to lie on or having to clear the space to do it. A trigger could be opening the door to head straight to the yoga mat.
Remember to be grateful. Some supplements or medications like tinctures can taste, let's face it, disgusting. Ever had an apricot kernel? I pair chewing on a kernel with saying to myself, "Thank you for my healing."
What part of your life can you automate? What is it you find yourself doing repeatedly that could be established and set on auto-pilot? What would saving time from doing this activity allow you to do?
